Hello, People of the Mysterious Beyond!!
I have been absent! Alas, I had vowed it would not be so.
My last post was, oh, about 3 weeks ago. Can you believe it!? Time flies.
Here's a quick run-down on where I've been and what I've been up to!
1.) My most wonderful and awesome Grammy visited!! Yup, all the way from beautiful Southern California. We had a grand time and I was far too busy loving on her to even think about Pinterest or blogging or you, Internet.
2.) As part of #1, we had family pictures taken with ol' Gram. Finding the right outfit consumed many precious hours. (I finally settled on a scarf I already own and a $7 black shirt from Wal-Mart, in case you were dying to know. Go figure.)
3.) My little sister was in a play! I went to my very first ever high school production of 'Grease'. The sound was inconsistent, everyone forgot their lines, and the make-up was hor.r.i.b.le. It was AWESOME!! I had so much fun and it was pretty great to get to hear the little gal sing a solo!

4.) It was my little guy's birthday!! I need an entry just to talk about that day alone, but maybe later. For now, I'll just let you know that it was epic. He had a great time and kept yelling "Meeeeee! Happy Day!" It was a lot of fun and so relaxing to just spend the day with family.

He took full advantage of everyone having to make him happy. We were all in Sesame Street party hats.
5.) It was my birthday!! I never thought it would happen, but I actually forgot about my own birthday! The last 2 years, it's just completely snuck up on me! I guess with having a child's birthday 4 days before yours, it just gets lost. I made the most of it and had an ok one. And, yes, it was just "ok". I had to take my Grandma back to the airport that day, my pregnant sister threw up in the van on the way up (so sad), my son threw one of his birthday presents out the window on the freeway, I helped my brother find a new pair of work jeans at Old Navy, and I spent far too long in Target with a certain set of 12 year old twin brothers. Not my best, but that night made it alright in the end.

My festive cake. I can never have my birthday without a fall-themed something right in the center.

All siblings accounted for. It was a birthday miracle.
5.) I got to go shopping! My blessed father watched my son for an entire Sunday while I went on a shopping spree with my Mom & sisters in honor of my birthday. We hit the mall, Kohl's, Target, TJ Maxx, Old Navy. They were all just as I remembered them: pretty freakin' awesome without a toddler in tow. I love the kid to death, but there ain't nothin' like not having to share your pretzel with anyone. I made it home with a sweater, a cardigan, 6 shirts, 3 necklaces, a pair of earrings, a ring, a pair of glittery flats (ahhhhhhh!), a pair of gray suede moccasin thingys, a new pair of jeans (thatarealittletooloosesinceI'velost10poundswootgome!), an eyelash curler, a new eye shadow quad, new mascara, and new lip gloss! I'd say I did pretty well. Yay for mom's who love you and husbands who rank up just before a long drill weekend. *wink*

Unfortunately, this is the only picture I got of our shopping extravaganza. Luckily, it's a good one.
6.) I've been cleaning like a maniac! My house is in desperate need of some tender love and care, and it seems that for some reason no one is showing up to give it some. So I guess I'll have to. I *finally* got my spare bedroom unpacked and organized, now I'm just working on making it look cute and presentable for my Thanksgiving house guest (SO EXCITED!!)
7.) I had the flu. And def thought I was going to die. I just kept thinking about that movie, 'Contagion'. I kept thinking to myself, "I'm 'Patient 0'." Oh it was horrible. I've been lucky enough that I haven't gotten sick in the boy's entire lifetime. In fact, the last time I threw up was when I was in labor. Sadly, my lucky streak ran out and I fell hard. Having to be sick and still take care of another person is a real game changer. Hoping that was my portion of sickness for the foreseeable future, or at least until I have a husband during the week again. Not. Pretty.
Other than that, just day to day life. Taking care of the boy and doin' m' chores. Not the most fun, but not the worst thing either.
Definitely needing to try some new Pinterest stuff!! If YOU have something you'd like me to try, feel free to drop me a comment. I'd love some inspiration!
Welp, that's all for now. Gold star if you read the whole thing.
