Pinterest Adventure #3

I am a big weather complainer. A huge one.

"It's so hot outside. I'm never going out there again."
"It's freezing! I hate outside."
"It's so bright out there. I hate the weather in all the seasons."

That's me.
I am never satisfied with the weather.
And winter is my least favorite of all weathers.
After summer.

I like the cold. Hate the snow. Hate the ice. Love the hot chocolate.
But it's the dry skin that gets me.
Winters reeks havoc on my skin, especially the skin on my face.

Soooo, when I found this pin on Pinterest for a face mask, I was pumped.
Not only are all the ingredients "natural"-ish, I had all of them in my fridge already.
That almost never happens.

Bright, beautiful skin...here. I. come.

Here's what goes in the mask. A little Greek yogurt, a couple kiwis, some EVOO, and some orange juice my brother-in-law left in my fridge.

Basically, you just dump it all in the blender. It kinda sucks to dirty the blender for so little, buuuut...let's just say kiwi don't puree so good with just a fork.

So, blender away.

It's important to look at the blender with suspicion and distrust.

This is what it looked like when I globbed it out of the now dirty blender.
*It's preeetty runny, so I put mine in the fridge. Refrigeration helps with thickening, right?

Now, all you have to do is spoon it out, put a little on your fingers, and smear it on your dry, thirsty face.

Side note: Apparently, to a toddler boy, this stuff looks like the most delicious goop ever. My guy begged and begged to try it. "Meeeee! Me eat! Me bite, Memaw! Meeee! Ahhhhh!" So I let him be my taste tester:

And, apparently, it tastes disgusting. (Like we all knew it would. Live and learn.)

Anyways, back to the adventure!

This is me before the mask. Ready to be rejuvenated. See my skin? Yep. Pretty dry. Lifeless? Yep, that too. (I promise my head isn't so ape-like in real life. It looks weird, but whatever.)

You're supposed to put the goop on ("avoiding the eyes". duh.) and leave it on till it dries.
Sounds easy enough...
The original blogger says that the tiny kiwi seeds help to exfoliate and that if you feel a tingling sensation, that means it's working.

So, I guess my question to you is: "What does it mean when it starts burning?"

This is me, 10 minutes in. See that look on my face? It's sheer panic. Terror. Confusion. What is on my face and why is it burning?!

I have no idea how long it takes this stuff to dry because I couldn't handle it that long. I made it about a half hour. It was just really cold at first (probably from the fridge), then tingly for a second, then the burn.
It was so burny that I ended up having to take a shower because I didn't feel like it was getting rinsed off quickly enough.
After it was rinsed off, it was really itchy for a while.
Also...it made my skin kinda red.

I don't feel like I failed this pin.
I feel like this pin failed me.

This is me.
Red.
Itchy.
Completely dissatisfied.

The search for luscious skin continues.
