It's the little things.

Well, I was in the mood to blog tonight but couldn't really think of anything good to say and anything I did think think of wouldn't make much sense to anyone else, as is, and I'm too tired to write anything spectacular.
Sooooooo, I decided to list the little things that brought a smile to my face today.

#1: Besting my neighbors and showing them who's boss.
So, I've been in the middle of this secret war with my neighbors. Ha! They may or may not
even know we're fighting....but I do! See, my internet was an unsecured network. For
whatever reason, we never set a password and it was never a problem. Until now. The past
week-ish, internet's been sloooow (and I mean slow), but only at night. The scenario I've
deduced is that my college-student neighbors use up all my broadband at night when they
come home and make everything run like juuunk. It down right ticks me off! I pay
the big bucks and I can't even get my Facebook on at a decent speed. So dumb! Sometimes,
I get mad and just unplug the router. If I can't get online, no one can. Anyways, I've been
trying to figure out how to solve this and, thanks in part to my Facebook friends, I have! I
figured out what James missed as far as setting a security password and Voila! - Instant
victory! I even named my WiFi something nasty that asserts my ultimate dominance over
them. I know it wasn't nice, Internet, but it felt so right. I just hope they notice and are now
sad that they have to pay for their own wireless.
#2: Making thee best dinner ever.
Had my sister and my legally-bound Bro-han over for dinner and, let me tell ya, it was just
delish. For someone who is not a huge fan of slaving away in the kitchen, I never fail to
impress. What can I say? I'm good.
#3: Watching my son play in his bed without crying.
(I told you it was little things) We've been working really hard to transition Thomas to his
own bedroom and, so far, it has been going fabulously. He sleeps all night and everything, he
just hates his room. He cries if you leave him in there. So sad. Sooooo, to eliminate this, I've
applied some of my psychology skills ( $$$ well-spent right there) and have made clear, consistent bed-time cues. He always nurses right before bed, we say "Ni-night time" 3 times as we carry him in his room, he's always in his jammies, night-light is on, rain machine is on, door is closed. My hope was that he would only associate bed-time with these cues and
would feel more comfortable in his bed if they weren't present. And whadaya'know, it
worked! It was day-time, there were toys in the bed, window was open and he liked playing
in his bed. It's so nice to see alllll my hard work pay off. *Sigh* I knew I wasted 5 years and
thousands of dollars for a reason....
#4: Successfully tried a new hairstyle.
I found a cute ponytail/ bun thing on Pinterest, tried it today...and it actually looked cute!
Hooray! for new, cute hairstyles to wear while I'm frumping around with Tom. Plain
ponytails can only get a girl so far.

Well, I suppose that's all for now. I know I smiled more than 4 times, but I've just gotta get back to my HGTV.
